Ghanaian musician, Wendy Shay, says she seeks answers from the government on how they plan on helping them financially during these tough times of the Coronavirus pandemic.

In a studio interview with Dr. Cann on Showbiz Xtra, which airs on Happy98.9FM, she commented that the Kenyan government, upon seeing how tough musicians’ finances had become due to the Covid-19 and lockdown, gave out some money to their artistes, so that they could keep themselves going.

“What is the government planning on doing for us musicians? Other country governments have given out rice, money, etc. Because music is our profession and we cannot have any shows at the moment, what is our government also doing to support us”, the musician questioned.

Wendy, in addition to this, also asked to know about structures that the government is putting in place for musicians to be able to make money from their songs when they put them up on digital platforms.

She concluded, saying that, “A lot of work goes into the job. Making music videos, energy, time and everything so it’s only fair that if we put out the music, we make some form of revenue from it”.
