KNUST mourns shocking death of female student

Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has with deep regret announced the passing of one of their students in a tragic incident on campus.

The school management confirmed in an official statement that Miss Joana Deladem Yabani was found dead near the KNUST Disability and Rehabilitation Centre.

According to them, the school security service received a report of a lifeless body of a female near the KNUST Disability and Rehabilitation Centre around 5:00am on February 27, 2025.

The body was promptly transported to the university Health Services, where she was confirmed dead.

“The deceased was later identified as Miss Joana Deladem Yabani, a fourth-year student pursuing Bachelor of Science in Biological sciences”, the statement said.

The statement signed by Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, Deputy Registrar of the University Relation office, indicated that comprehensive investigation is underway in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), KNUST internal security and the University Health service to determine the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident adding that the school is fully committed to ensuring all necessary measures are taken to ascertain the truth.
The school assured the university community and the public of their commitment to the safety and well being of students and staff.

They urged the students to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information.

The University has officially informed the deceased’s family and extended their deepest condolences.
