Former Ghana Football Association president, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has been discharged by the Accra High Court after investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas failed to testify in court.

The Accra High Court, presided over by Her Ladyship Justice Marie-Louise Simmons, on Thursday, February 13, 2025, dismissed the case against Kwesi Nyantakyi and Abdulai Alhassan, a former Northern Regional FA chairman, due to insufficient evidence from the State.

The State could not provide enough evidence against Nyantakyi and Alhassan because Anas Aremeyaw Anas, who was the star witness for the State Prosecutor, failed to testify.

Anas failed to appear in court after the Court of Appeal ruled on January 30, 2025, that he could only testify if he did so without wearing a mask.

The panel, chaired by Justice Anthony Oppong, with Justice Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo and Justice Aboagye Tandoh as members, quashed the High Court ruling and ordered Anas to remove his mask when testifying.

The High Court had previously ruled on May 17, 2023, that Anas Aremeyaw Anas could be allowed to testify in-camera, but only on the condition that he revealed his face to Kwesi Nyantakyi in chambers.
