Lawyer Kwabena Boateng, the 2nd Deputy Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ejisu Constituency, has won the parliamentary primary held today, April 13, 2024.

Boateng secured a decisive win, garnering 393 votes out of the total votes cast by NPP delegates in the constituency. His closest contender was Helena Mensah, who received 302 votes.

The full results of the primary are as follows:

  1. Kwabena Boateng – 393 votes
  2. Dr. Evans Duah – 61 votes
  3. Klinsman Karikari Mensah – 2 votes
  4. Helena Mensah – 302 votes
  5. Jacqueline Abena Pokua Amoah-Boaitey – 0 votes
  6. Portia Baffoe Abronye – 6 votes
  7. Kwesi Nyantakyi – 35 votes
  8. Aaron Prince Duah – 2 votes
  9. Yaa Akyawmaa Aboagye – 229 votes

Lawyer Kwabena Boateng’s victory in the primary makes him the NPP’s candidate for the upcoming Ejisu by-election, which was necessitated by the unfortunate passing of the late MP, John Ampontuah Kumah, on March 7, 2024.

The Ejisu by-election is scheduled to be held on April 30, 2024, by the Electoral Commission.

Boateng’s triumph in the NPP primary positions him as the frontrunner to retain the seat for the governing party in the upcoming poll.

With Lawyer Kwabena Boateng now set to carry the NPP’s banner, the party will be hoping to maintain its hold on the Ejisu constituency.
