Sanitation expert, Fiifi Boadu has divulged that a simple way to effectively manage one’s household waste is through segregation of the waste.

He proposed this solution during Tuesday’s edition of the the Happy Morning Show’s Sanitation Campaign series dubbed “Love Your Area! Keep Your Environment Clean!”, aired on Happy 98.9FM.

“From the household level, if you generate waste, you will have to be able to store before it is disposed. In storing your waste, it is important that you don’t contaminate it. We need to segregate our waste in two parts; organic and inorganic. Organic refers to perishable waste over time. This refers to our food products. We can start very simple using poly bags. Plastics, textiles, metals and under stuffs should also be disposed separately”, he said.

He added that segregating waste will be an advantage to waste service providers because it will be easier for these service providers to deposit perishable waste to compost or recycling site.

The Happy Morning Show team has initiated a sanitation campaign series to tackle the country’s sanitation menace. The Campaign series dubbed ‘Love Your Area! Keep Your Environment Clean!’ is aired on Happy 98.9FM from Mondays to Fridays at 8:30am.
