The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has stated that the large-scale protest against the suspension of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo organized by the NPP in collaboration with some opposition parties should serve as a strong warning to President Mahama to exercise greater caution.
In an interview he said, “The protest against the Chief Justice should tell Mahama to be careful. I have never seen a government face such a massive demonstration. The protest was huge, and we will make the government uncomfortable”.
According to him, the protest has shaken the world. He stated how amazed he was by the flow of people, especially on a Monday morning. “The turnout was massive” he said.
He also noted that although Mahama’s government was given a strong mandate by the people, it has fallen short of fulfilling expectations.
“The Mahama government may have received massive support from the people, but they have failed them. That’s why so many people came out to pour their frustrations on the streets. People are fed up,” he added.
