President John Dramani Mahama has vowed to address Ghana’s economic challenges and ease the hardships affecting its citizens.

Speaking at the National Economic Dialogue on Monday, March 3, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre, he reaffirmed his commitment to making economic stability a top priority.

He outlined key reforms aimed at restoring macroeconomic stability, emphasizing the need for responsible public financial management to pave way for advances towards sustainable living for all Ghanaians. “My priority as president is to restore macroeconomic stability. We must enforce responsible public financial management and ensure fiscal discipline at all levels of governance while working to reduce hardships for our people,” he stated.

A major policy also expected to be implemented under Mahama’s administration will be ensuring the complete independence of Ghana’s Central Bank, free from external influence, to support prudent monetary policies. “Under my leadership, the Bank of Ghana’s independence will be safeguarded to implement monetary policies that curb inflation, stabilize our currency, and rebuild our foreign reserves,” President Mahama assured.
