President John Dramani Mahama has signed the 24-Hour Economy Authority Bill into law, clearing the path for the full implementation of the government’s flagship economic policy.
The bill was approved by Parliament on February 6 after several days of debate, following its presentation to the House at the close of 2025.
The newly enacted legislation establishes a 24-Hour Economy Authority as the central coordinating body to oversee the nationwide rollout of the policy.
Under the law, the Authority will work closely with key government institutions, private sector players and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth implementation of round-the-clock economic activities across the country.
The 24-hour economy policy aims to restructure Ghana’s economic framework by encouraging continuous production, service delivery and business operations in multiple sectors.
President Mahama described the signing as a decisive transition “from strategy to implementation,” stressing that the policy places strong emphasis on job creation and expanding economic opportunities for Ghanaians.
