Former President John Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to tackling the challenges facing the implementation of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Binduri in the Upper East Region, Mahama emphasized that he has no intention of canceling the policy.

He promised to enhance its implementation to improve educational quality and standards.

“Anyone who says JM will abolish Free SHS is misleading you. I am dedicated to improving the implementation of the Free SHS policy to ensure it remains a quality initiative,” Mahama stated.

He outlined plans to complete stalled school projects and expand existing facilities to support the policy’s success. This includes addressing the double track system by increasing infrastructure, which would enhance learning conditions and reduce extended breaks for students.

Mr. Mahama also addressed the issue of irregular food supplies to schools, proposing that head teachers be allowed to procure food locally rather than relying on the national buffer stock system. This change aims to ensure better quality food for students and support local economies.
