Communication team member of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Padmore Baffour Agyapong has alluded that the members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s massive support for the flagbearership race will only favour the NPP’s campaign in the next general elections.

According to Padmore, most communicators of the opposition NDC party have a common slogan, “Mahama will win the next elections”.

“I have observed something similar among all the NDC communicators. They all say they’re for Mahama. Well, that is good and it’s the only thing I like about the party. When they are loyal, they go all out for one person and holds them together.”

However he believes that the agenda impedes the democratic principles of every political party since other contestants are undermined.

“This does not portray a democratic party. Yes, all for Mahama but what about the others? It’s unfair to sideline or undermine them before the race even begins,” he said.

He further opined that such loyal agenda could bring about division within the party. Hence to the benefit of the reigning NPP party.

“It will however benefit us because after others feel they’ve been treated unfairly; they will also decide not to vote for their rival. And this may cost them a lot of votes. But when you open the fate for everyone to contest, though Mahama will win they rest will support him even when they lose,” he added.
