Maidens coach takes blame for defeat against Korea DPR

Head Coach of the Black Maidens, Augustine Evans Adotey says he is he blamed for the defeat to Korea DPR in the quater finals of the 2016 under-17 FIFA World Cup in Jordan.

The Maidens were beaten 2-1 by a well organized Korean team who are yet to lose a game in the ongoing tournament.

And in the aftermath of the game, Evans Adotey says he is not disappointed to miss out a semifinal slot but rather impressed with the outing of his charges.

“We had an ambition to qualify to the next round of the competition, but things didn’t go as planned. We’re downhearted by the results because i think we played a great game. I think the last defender could have cleared the ball from danger zone, but it’s a game and such situations happen in football. Just like we did to them in the last edition, whereby we won the game at the depth, they’ve done exactly the same things to us this round.”

“I commend my girls for coming back into the game strongly and i must say that they deserved to take something from the game. I think the defeat was my own doing but we cannot  discredit the effort the girls put in this match.”

Korea DPR took the lead through Kim Po-Ui in the 33rd minute courtesy a penalty before a Gifty Acheampong equalizer in the 81st minute ensured parity, before a 94th minute goal from Ja Un Yong broke the heart of Ghanaians.
