Contrary to reports in the media that management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has parted ways with it head coach CK Akunnor, Deputy Accra Representative and Management member of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Nana Kwame Dankwa has said that The former Black Stars captain is still in charge the team.

According to him, per the terms in the contract, management of the Porcupine Warriors can reassign him to any position of their choice in the team.

Speaking in an interview on Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo Sports with Ohene Brenya Bampoe, Nana Kwame said, “Per the contract we have with CK Akunnor, we have the right to reassign him to a different role apart from coaching in the team. But as it stands now, he is still the head coach of the team.”

He urged the supporters of the Kumasi-based club to trust any decision to be taken by the management of the team. “We are pleading with the supporters to respect and trust the management of Kotoko because whatever decision we take will be in the supreme interest of the club.”

“We had a discussion with CK Akunnor about the new role we intend to give him. Initially, he objected but later came back saying he wants to make some consultations. CK even asked us to put all our proposals on paper for him,” he revealed.

However, according to reports, management of the Porcupine Warriors are already in talks with AshantiGold and Norwegian coach Kjetil Zachariassen and former Black Stars assistant coach Maxwell Konadu as a possible replacement by close of work today.
