Asante Kotoko head coach, Maxwell Konadu has disclosed that he accepted to coach the club because they had shown more interest in him.

The Black Stars B coach was unveiled as new head coach of the club on Wednesday at the Club’s training grounds at Adako Jachie.

After his unveiling, Konadu has revealed the reason why he joined the Porcupine Warriors.

“The difference is that this time the team’s efforts to get me was greater than all other years, that also played a major role. Dignitaries from all facets who have the club at heart kept calling me every now and then, including our own Dr. Kwame Kyei (Executive Chairman of Asante Kotoko).

“I think it’s the right time for me to make that decision, because the efforts from the officials to get me was greater, and in football too even for players they go where they are most wanted. Most of the times it’s not about where you get the most money but if you go where you are wanted the most that is where you are mostly successful, so I think the timing is right and I don’t think there will be most problem”, he told FOX fm.

General Manager of Asante Kotoko, George Amoako stated that Konadu is in charge of the technical team and has the power to choose his technical team members he will work with.

“Maxwell Konadu has been appointed the head coach of Asante Kotoko, what it means is that  he is in charge of the technical handling of the club but before his appointment, Kotoko had two assistant coaches so he’s working with the two assistants.

“But as head coach he is also empowered to look at his staffing situation and can make recommendations for adjustments here and there to ensure he delivers, he will have to make a case for that” he told reporters.

“In any case, the senior team, junior team and everything about playing football is his business so what we have asked him to come out with the structure of the technical department of the club.

“We shouldn’t also forget that those he came to meet have contracts with the club and if we have to abrogate those contracts there are repercussions and we have to look at all that in taking decisions”, he concluded.
