The National Secretary for MMDCEs, Ishmael Nana Asamoah, has announced that between 80% and 88% of the District Assemblies Common Fund has been disbursed to Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) nationwide, including those in the Central Region.

He said the release of funds marks a major step toward accelerating local development projects across the country.

Speaking at a two-day workshop, Mr. Asamoah urged MMDCEs to prioritize development-oriented spending and cautioned against misuse of public funds, stressing that corruption would not be tolerated.

A Presidential Staffer, Chief Derry, also challenged the local executives to work diligently and deliver tangible results within the next two years, in line with the government’s broader development agenda.

In response, participating MMDCEs pledged to use the funds responsibly, focusing on key sectors such as roads, healthcare, and education.

They expressed appreciation to the NDC government under President John Dramani Mahama for its continued support and renewed commitment to decentralization and local governance.
