Member of Parliament (MP) of Kumbungu in the Northern Region, Ras Mubarak has revealed MP’s now attend to personal issues of their constituents rather undertaking their mandates for the country.

According to him, MP’s have become more of family heads and are always thinking of how to survive rather than executing their legislative duties. And this causes absenteeism in parliament.

Speaking on Happy FM’s Epa Hoa Daben with Kwame Afrifa Mensah, he revealed that constituents overburden MP’s with their problems and some unnecessary stuff that take them (MP’s) away from their work.

He made known that some MP’s cannot refuse their constituents because they fear they will lose votes if they say no.

“To get work done, you don’t have to engage in unnecessary issues in your constituency. You don’t have to go for outdooring and dash out monies if you want to do your work effectively as an MP”, he advised fellow MP’s.
