The Auditor-General Daniel Yao Domelevo has described the president’s directive for him to proceed on leave as a decision taken in “bad faith.”
Having started his leave “out of respect” to the president, Mr. Domelevo said in a letter to the presidency that he believes he was ordered to take his annual leave because his work was embarrassing the government.
“I think it is necessary, however, to bring to the attention of the high office of the President a few matters relevant to our constitutional governance, due process and the rule of law,” the letter said.

President Akufo-Addo on June 29, 2020 asked the Auditor-General to take his accumulated leave, a statement from the presidency has said.
Director of Communications at the Jubilee House in the statement said Mr Domelevo is expected to begin the leave on Wednesday, July 1, 2020.
