The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested Emmanuel Jared Ohene Obuobi, the prime suspect in a failed attempt to smuggle seven slabs of cocaine totaling 8 kilograms through Kotoka International Airport.
The illicit consignment was intercepted on August 13 and 14, 2025, during separate attempts to transport the drugs to the United Kingdom via Swissport. Investigators uncovered advanced concealment techniques designed to evade airport security systems.
Following weeks of surveillance and intelligence-led operations, NACOC apprehended Obuobi, who is believed to be a central figure in a transnational drug trafficking syndicate operating between West Africa and Europe.
The suspect is currently in custody and cooperating with authorities. NACOC has reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling narcotics networks and enhancing security protocols at Ghana’s ports of entry.
