Minister for Local Government, Ahmed Ibrahim, has re-echoed the imperative of spiritual initiatives like the National Day of Prayer in Ghana’s development.
Speaking at the second session of the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving held at the National Mosque in Accra, he expressed gratitude to the President John Dramani Mahama for setting the nation on the right path in light of thanksgiving being a divine requirement to be met by every man. “Your Excellency the wisest and one of the oldest books the Quran in Shura chapter 40:7- Allah says if you are grateful I will surely increase you in favor, but if you deny, indeed my punishment is severe. Thank you, Your Excellency, for not leading us astray but for reminding us and bringing us back on track to give gratitude to Almighty Allah for the peace and prosperity granted unto us.” he intimated.
The Minister acknowledging the efforts of proper governance and democratic dialogue noted the role of spiritual initiatives and rites to synergistically sustain the peace and development of the country.
The success of these spiritual exercises, he said, is hinged to the presence of key values in society. “Today’s prayer is a reminder that nation building is not only a political task but a moral and spiritual obligation. One that requires sincerity, humility, justice, and accountability.” he said.
