This victory marks the Knights’ second NBI title, having previously won the tournament in 2023, and solidifies their status as one of West Africa’s premier basketball teams. The win was especially sweet for the Knights, as it came against ABC Fighters, a team they had been eager to overcome after previous encounters.

A Hard-Fought Victory
The championship game was a thrilling display of skill, strategy, and determination. Spintex Knights, known for their tenacity and teamwork, executed their game plan to perfection, stifling ABC’s offensive threats and capitalizing on key moments. The final score of 59-52 reflected the intensity of the matchup, with both teams leaving everything on the court. For the Knights, this victory was not just about claiming the title but also about proving their resilience and ability to rise to the occasion.

Revenge Served
The win held extra significance for Spintex Knights, as it avenged their previous losses to ABC Fighters in the Road to BAL last year. The Knights’ triumph over such a formidable opponent underscored their growth and dominance in West African basketball. “This victory means everything to us,” said coach Selorm Thomas  of Spintex Knights after the game. “We’ve worked tirelessly for this moment, and to beat a team like ABC makes it even more special.”

Spintex Knights small forward forward James Amotoe also emerged the Most Valuable player of the tournament, his second consecutive.

Back-to-Back Champions
By winning the 2025 NBI, Spintex Knights made history as the first team to claim back-to-back titles in the tournament’s history. Their journey to the championship was marked by impressive performances, including a hard-fought semifinal victory over Cold Store (69-62) and a dominant display in the finals. The Knights’ consistency and ability to perform under pressure have cemented their reputation as a powerhouse in the region.

A Celebration of Basketball and Community
The 2025 NBI was more than just a basketball tournament; it was a celebration of the sport’s ability to unite communities and inspire dreams. The Aviation Social Centre was packed with passionate fans who witnessed thrilling games, unforgettable moments, and the rise of new champions. Spintex Knights’ victory was a testament to the power of teamwork, perseverance, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.

What’s Next for the Champions?
With back-to-back NBI titles under their belt, Spintex Knights now set their sights on even greater heights. Their success on the regional stage has positioned them as a team to watch in international competitions, including the Basketball Africa League (BAL). As they celebrate this historic achievement, the Knights are already looking ahead to their next challenge, determined to continue making their mark on the basketball world.

A Legacy of Excellence
The 2025 National Basketball Invitational will be remembered not only for Spintex Knights’ historic victory but also for the incredible talent, passion, and community spirit on display. As the tournament continues to grow, it remains a beacon of opportunity and inspiration for basketball enthusiasts across West Africa.
