Ghanaian middle-distance runner Aziz Mohammed has roared onto the national scene, claiming the coveted gold medal in the 1500m at the recent NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships. This victory marks a significant milestone for Mohammed, solidifying his position as a top athlete and capping off a season of consistent performances.

He participated in both the indoor and outdoor national championships, showcasing his well-rounded talent.

However, the national championship wasn’t Mohammed’s only triumph this year. Earlier, he cemented his place in West Texas A&M history by securing second place in the 1500m at a school meet with an impressive time of 3:44 seconds.

This blistering performance not only ranked him fourth in the NCAA Division II but also solidified his position as the program’s second-fastest runner ever in the event. Following the race, Mohammed expressed humility and dedication, acknowledging the room for improvement and his trust in the training process.

The championship race itself was a nail-biting affair. Mohammed entered the final lap neck-and-neck with his competitor before surging ahead in the final stretch, securing the gold by a narrow margin of 0.12 seconds. His time of 3 minutes, 54 seconds solidified his dominance on the track.

This victory is a testament to Mohammed’s dedication to his craft. He remains grounded despite the win, acknowledging the room for improvement.

His commitment to ongoing development highlights his work ethic and ambition for future success.

Aziz Mohammed’s journey from a talented athlete to a national champion is an inspiration for aspiring runners in Ghana and beyond. His tactical brilliance, focus, and commitment to improvement position him for even greater achievements in the years to come.

Eyeing a place in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Aziz will be looking to represent Ghana in the 1500m, 800m.

Can he secure Olympics Qualification berth?
