The Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Alhaji Mohammad Frimpong together with his campaign team were allegedly attacked by armed men on the Wenchi stretch in the Tain Constituency of the Bono Region.
The armed men allegedly attacked Alhaji Mohammad Frimpong and his team around 11:00pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 after embarking on a campaign tour of Namasa.
According to Evans Ofori, Bono Regional Chairman of the party, when the masked armed men ambushed them, they started shooting their vehicle which caused some minor injuries to some party members.
“When we were heading to Wenchi from Namasa, we saw a barrier assumed to be a police barrier ahead of us so we decided to slow down, suddenly the armed men appeared from nowhere and started shooting our vehicles so we had to quickly reverse”.
The police patrol arrived shortly after the attack and gave us escort to Wenchi, he said.
The chairman expressed his profound gratitude to the police for their swift intervention to ensure their safety.
