Basil David Anthony, the Chief Executive Officer of Modern Floors Ghana, has urged entrepreneurs to embrace a resilient mindset and never view obstacles as the end of the world.

In an exclusive interview on the Happy Morning Show with Sefah Danquah, Anthony shared insights from his entrepreneurial journey, emphasizing the importance of adaptability and perseverance in the face of challenges.

“When you’re stable and hit a roadblock as an entrepreneur, you don’t need to take it as the end of the world but a lesson. It’s basically the school of life,” Anthony advised.

The seasoned entrepreneur, who has ventured into various sectors, including IT, aviation, and e-ticketing, attributed his success to the ability to identify gaps and opportunities in the market.

“The superpower of entrepreneurs is the eye for gaps and opportunities in a sector. I started in the IT space because, at the time, there was little or no appreciation for websites. So, I began creating websites for companies as the internet started to spiral up,” he recounted.

However, Anthony acknowledged that entrepreneurial ventures often face roadblocks, and growth may stall at certain points.

He emphasized the importance of adaptation and diversification, citing his transition from the IT space to aviation and e-ticketing through his company, Ticket Ghana.

“Like every entrepreneur, you realize that the idea or whatever you’re doing would sometimes not grow beyond what you started or achieved. So, you find ways to expand,” he explained.

Anthony’s journey took an unexpected turn when the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the events industry, rendering his online ticketing business stagnant.

However, he refused to be deterred, choosing to view the obstacle as a learning opportunity rather than the end of the road.

“Due to COVID, the industry became stale. But you know, when you’re stable and hit a roadblock as an entrepreneur, you don’t need to take it as the end of the world but a lesson. It’s basically the school of life,” he reiterated.

Anthony’s words of wisdom resonate with the challenges that many entrepreneurs face, particularly in the dynamic and ever-changing business landscape.

His ability to pivot and adapt to market changes has been a key factor in his success, serving as an inspiration for aspiring and seasoned entrepreneurs alike.

Earlier this month, he emerged winner of the prestigious 2024 Forty Under 40 Africa Award in Nairobi.
