The New Juaben South Municipal Police Command is set to arraign 15 women for alleged involvement in human trafficking and commercial sex work.
The suspects, aged between 15 and 35, were arrested after a sex worker reported being abused by her trafficker and boyfriend for failing to meet daily earnings targets.
The police operation also led to the arrest of several landlords accused of converting their apartments into brothels and charging GH₵25 per day for their use.
Addressing the media at the Central Police Station in Koforidua, the Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Ransford Nsiah, cautioned landlords against renting out properties for sex work, warning that offenders would face the full rigours of the law.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Crime Officer, ASP Asante Kusi Augustine, raised serious concerns about the involvement of minors, some as young as 15, in commercial sex work. He appealed to the public to volunteer information to assist the police in arresting traffickers and safeguarding vulnerable persons.
