Prez Mahama pledges swift action against illegal construction to tackle flooding

Management of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has commended President John Dramani Mahama for fulfilling his promise to uncap the NHIA budget approved by Parliament annually.

According to a statement released by the Authority, the announcement by President Mahama to has demonstrated his commitment to strengthen the country’s healthcare system.

“This decisive action, announced at the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service held at the Ohene Konadu Auditorium, University of Professional Studies (UPSA), Accra, over the weekend, marks a significant turning point in the Scheme’s history. By removing the budgetary cap, the government has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to strengthening Ghana’s healthcare system and ensuring sustainable funding for the NHIS”.

The Statement noted that, President Mahama’s decision for the Authority will significantly improve the scheme’s growth and its vision to attain Universal Health Coverage.

“It will enable the NHIA to expand coverage, settle claims promptly, improve service delivery, and ensure that every Ghanaian has access to quality and affordable healthcare regardless of socio-economic status”.
