No Ken, No Vote! - Amasaman residents declare ahead of NPP leadership Election

Residents of Amasaman, have voiced their strong stance on the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership election calling for Kennedy Agyapong to lead the party in the next general election.

With the NPP set to elect a successor to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on November 4, 2023, these residents have made it abundantly clear that they will not cast their votes unless a specific candidate secures the party’s flagbearership.

A passionate resident of Amasaman during Happy 98.9 FM’s recent “Happy On Wheels” community engagement shared, “We promised never to vote, especially with what we’ve seen under Akufo-Addo. We’ve realized that our leaders don’t care about us, and there’s no one among these politicians who has the interest of Ghanaians at heart.”

He added, “It’s because of their selfishness that they come to us to vote for them. After we vote them into power, what they promised and what is good for the development of the country, they ignore and focus on enriching their pockets and the lives of their families. So I, together with everyone here at Amasaman, we are not voting.”

However, the residents highlighted one exception to their decision. They firmly believe that Ken Ohene Agyapong is the only candidate who truly has the country’s interest at heart.

“He’s the only one we can see has the country’s interest at heart. Apart from him, and if he doesn’t win the NPP presidential elections then we are not voting for anyone in the general elections.”

The residents of Amasaman further elaborated on their reasoning, expressing their skepticism about Dr. Bawumia, who currently holds the position of the Vice President of Ghana.

They asserted that they had observed a decline in various aspects of Ghana during his tenure, questioning the grounds on which he would seek the presidency.

“We’ve seen the likes of Dr. Bawumia who is the second in command of the ruling government and everything about Ghana is worse so on what grounds would be want to be elected this time as the president?”

Ken Agyapong is set to face off against three other formidable candidates, including Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Owusu Akoto, and Francis Addai Nimoh in the NPP Presidencial elections come November 4, 2023.
