The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has cautioned the public against fake recruitment messages and appointment letters being circulated on social media and other online platforms.
In a public notice issued on Monday, November 24, the Authority said its attention had been drawn to claims of ongoing recruitment into the NPA, including letters titled “Offer of Appointment into the National Petroleum Authority.”
The NPA stressed that these claims are false and that the purported letters did not originate from the institution.
“The public is strongly cautioned against engaging with, or making any form of payment to, individuals or groups purporting to represent the Authority in connection with any recruitment exercise,” the statement warned.
The NPA emphasized that all official communications from the Authority are issued only through its official website, verified social media handles, or on an official letterhead signed by designated officials.
According to the Authority, it is currently collaborating with law enforcement agencies to investigate, identify, and prosecute those behind the fraudulent recruitment scheme.
The NPA urged the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious information or correspondence related to recruitment to its toll-free line 0800 123 000.
