NPP China China branch has congratulated the Minister of Energy, Mr John Peter Amewu, for clinching a historic victory as the first Member of Parliament-elect for the New Patriotic Party in the Hohoe Constituency.

Mr Amewu polled 26,952 against his major contender, Prof Margaret Kweku of the NDC who polled 21,821.

The new feat has broken the seemingly infinite grip of the National Democratic Congress on the Hohoe Constituency.

In a statement Ben Owusu Achiaw, Chairman for the branch said “We congratulate the entire Volta Regional NPP executives, the Hohoe executives and the voters who helped to vote Hon. Amewu into Ghana’s parliament. The joy of this is that it will repeat itself in most constituencies within the Volta Region.”

He added that “the entire executives and members of NPP China Branch heard your victory with jubilation and applaud. We wish Hon. Amewu prosperous and excellent years in Ghana’s parliament.”

The NDC, however, retained control over the Constituency by polling 33,542 (69.40%) against the NPP’s 14,389 votes which represented, 29.80% with 416 votes (0.9%) shared among the other parties.

Profile

Mr Amewu who is married with 3 children is hoping to revive the vibrancy of the constituency having already initiated several development projects in the area.
