The New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries held today saw some Members of Parliament (MPs) with sports portfolios unable to retain their seat in their various constituencies ahead of the General Elections in December.

Happy Sports brings to a list of those parliamentarians who were unable to retain their seat and have been kicked out of parliament.

Honourable Alex Agyekum- MP for Mpohor Constituency

The Chairman for the Parliamentary Select Committee for Sports and Culture Alex Agyekum was defeated in the NPP primaries to John Saani by 91 votes.

The results which was shocking saw the incumbent pull 101 votes against the aspirant John Saani’s 192.

Alex Agyekum was hoping to serve for a third term but he has been ousted by the delegates.

Vicent Odotei-Sowuah- MP for La Dadekotopon constituency

The Hearts of Oak board member was unseated as Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon by Joseph Gerald Tetteh Nyanyofio with a gap of 167 votes.

Gerald Tetteh Nyanyofio won the seat by 543 votes while Vincent Sowuah Odotei managed 376 votes ad Comfort Adei Kotey secured 46 votes out of the 968 votes cast in the election.

It is a double agony for Vicent Sowuah-Odotei who was sacked as Deputy Minister of Information by the President in April.

Meanwhile, the Minister for Youth and Sports Isaac Asiamah retained his seat at Atwima Mpouna constituency.

He went unopposed in the election and will lead the party in his constituency ahead of the General Elections to be held in December.
