The National Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed concern over campaign activities being carried out by some party executives, members, and supporters.

These actions, focused on promoting individuals seeking positions within the party, have been criticized for shifting attention away from the NPP’s immediate priorities.

A statement, signed by the Chairman, National Council of elders, disclosed that such activities are counterproductive to the party’s efforts to recover from the disappointing performance in the 2024 elections.

“We wish to remind ourselves that, the focus of the Party at this crucial time is to organize a detailed assessment of the causes of the Party’s dismaying performance in the recent elections”.

“In pursuance of this goal, an Election Review Committee chaired by Professor Mike Oquaye has been set up by the NPP national council” parts of the statement read.

The purpose of this committee being set up is expected to, within three months engage Party members, stakeholders and the general public on it’s terms of reference, after which it shall submit a report containing its findings and recommendations.

The elders reminded all members that this is a time for reflection and unity, not internal conflicts or early campaigning.
