The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced Saturday, January 31, 2026, as the date for its presidential primaries to select a flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
The party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, made the announcement following a meeting of the National Executive Committee in Accra on Tuesday. He indicated that the decision was made in accordance with the party’s constitution and subsequently approved by the National Council.
“This marks a significant milestone as the party prepares for the next electoral cycle,” Kodua said, describing the upcoming primaries as a critical moment for the NPP.
Sources within the party say anticipation is already building around the contest, with both veteran politicians and emerging figures expected to vie for the flagbearer position.
Kodua assured party members and the public that the primaries would be conducted in a transparent and credible manner, in line with the party’s democratic values.
He further disclosed that the party will soon publish nomination guidelines, a campaign calendar, and a code of conduct for aspirants.
