Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Gloria Akuffo has disclosed the former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwasi Nyantakyi will soon face court over the corruption case brought against him.

She told parliament on Thursday that what appears to have stalled the case is the unfortunate death of Ahmed Suale, an investigator with Tiger Eye PI.

“Unfortunately, Mohammed Suale, a member of Tiger Eye and a principal witness with whom the prosecutors directly engaged in the preparation of the case was tragically killed on 16th May, 2019. The death of the journalist unavoidably stalled the preparation of the case.”

Ms Gloria Akuffo made the revelation in Parliament Thursday in a response to a question from Mion MP Mohammed Abdul-Aziz regarding the status of the complaint by President Akufo-Addo against Nyantakyi for mentioning his name in the Tiger Eye number 12 expose’.

The Attorney General told the House that the review of the docket has however been completed and the “presentation of the case in court is imminent.”

She said that after an initial review of the docket by a team of prosecutors, the police were in January 2019 requested to furnish the Office of the Attorney General with some further documents to facilitate the completion of the review.

According to Gloria Akuffo, although she asked the Tiger Eye team to present her with the said documents together with all videos on the investigations in March 2019, these details were however made available to her office in May 2019.
