Former Member of Parliament for Suhum and 2024 independent parliamentary candidate, Oboafo Kwadjo Asante, says he remains committed to the rule of law despite a ruling by the Koforidua High Court that went against him.

In a statement issued to his supporters on Saturday, December 20, and shared on his Facebook page, Mr. Asante said he accepts the court’s decision with calmness and respects Ghana’s judicial process.
He disclosed that he and his legal team are awaiting the full written judgment, which will be carefully reviewed to determine the next course of action.

“I wish to inform you that the Koforidua High Court has delivered its ruling in the Suhum Parliamentary Election Petition. While the court did not decide in our favour, we respect the is judicial process and the rule of law,” he stated.

Mr. Asante expressed appreciation to his supporters for their prayers, encouragement and unwavering backing throughout the legal proceedings.

He urged them to remain peaceful, calm and united as the matter progresses.
The statement follows the dismissal of an application he filed challenging the outcome of the 2024 Suhum parliamentary election. Mr. Asante, who previously represented the constituency in Parliament, contested the election as an independent candidate.

Despite the setback, he reaffirmed his commitment to the people of Suhum and to Ghana’s democratic ideals, stressing that his dedication to public service remains firm and unchanged.
