Launched on June 28, 2025, at Arrow Events Annexe, Aburi, OMJ SOCCERFEST promised a very exciting rendition of the well acclaimed sporting event in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Having captured the vast majority (24 out of 26) of all the electoral areas in the Akuapem South Municipality, the zonal qualifiers saw twelve towns/teams seal their bids for the finals in the football championship, with Obodan as hosts. These were drawn in four groups.

Anchored under the theme “Harnessing talents for a sustainable national development”, participating towns for this year’s OMJ SOCCERFEST were poised for the covetous prize which rewards the overall best player (MVP) in a juicy scholarship to pursue football career in Turkey (Europe).

Mr. Osei Mensah Joseph (OMJ) seized the opportunity to express his happiness to all stakeholders for their various consents to his dream and ambition. “This dream birthed OMJ FOUNDATION, which purpose of existence is to give back to society through the acts of giving. OMJ FOUNDATION engages and offers where necessary to the people in the Akuapem South Municipal area through the following special initiatives and projects:

OMJ ‘YES’ INITIATIVE (Youth Empowerment Support), OMJ Widows’ Mite, OMJ Educational Support, OMJ High-Level Advocacy and OMJ SOCCERFEST. amongst others” – Mr. Osei Mensah added. The Founder and Chief Executive Officer announced other awards, which comprised a giant trophy, medals, sets of jerseys, cash prizes, citations, gas stoves, etc

Prior to commencing the OMJSOCCERFEST’25 finals, His Royal Majesty, the Overlord of Akuapem land, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III, Okuapehene had blessed the well planned soccer festival in the last ‘Awukudae’ of the year at his palace in Akropong. This event took place when the OMJ crew and team of organisers of OMJ SOCCERFEST 2025 paid a courtesy call. The king signed his autograph on a shirt and a football for the best player. Nana was presented with a customised shirt by the OMJ contingent.

On August 1, The Akuapem All Black Street Carnival, novelty of the OMJ SOCCERFEST, opened the entire event in Obodan. The youth and others alike took to the floor to enjoy themselves in music, dance, food, drinks, and a night life atmosphere with a sensitisation moment ahead of the main event ; the football games.

Saturday, the 2nd of August, 2025, the indigenes of Obodan and visitors welcomed the greatest football tournament of the region. Twelve matches were played with thousands of supporters in attendance.
Aside the football games, other important activities concurrently took event. In collaboration with the Akuapem South Municipal Health Directorate, a Free Health Screening was administered, which saw over four hundred beneficiaries.

Continuing the football from the quarter final through to the grand finale, Sunday, August 3, the climaxing day had yet another huge boost of fans. The Cooking Competition, the third added activity of the third edition, also betided. Six towns met in an all-ladies affair bare knuckle encounter of cooking authentically Akuapem foods and other continental dishes complimenting with locally made fruit juices.

Yet another very important activity on the day was the newly introduced Mega Exhibition. The exhibitors were drawn from eleven Basic Schools in the municipality where pupils displayed diverse crafts showcasing their God-given talents for patronage. The local companies in the Akuapem South area were not left out. They capitalised on the exhibition platform to showcase their products. This was another success achieved exclusively for the 3rd edition of OMJ SOCCERFEST.
