The mining lease agreement of bauxite and lithium reports has been finally laid before Parliament for consideration by former majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu on behalf of lands and natural resources minister

The agreement relates to the Atlantic Lithium project and aims to develop Ghana’s first lithium-producing mine.

The Minority who opposed the laying of the agreements between the Government and Ashanti Bauxite Company Limited for bauxite mining in the Nyinahin Block 2 Area in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region, as well as Barari DV Ghana Limited for lithium exploitation at Ewoyaa in the Central Region, has now rescinded its decision.

Minority chief whip, Kwame Agboza Governs indicated that this agreement will have a positive impact on the economy especially in the mining industry .

He urged the committees who will sit on the report to expedite action to enable members scrutinize the deal agreement.

Second Deputy Speaker, Andrews Amoako Asiamah who presided over proceedings today has referred the mining lease agreement to the committees of natural resources and mines and energy for consideration and report to the house
