Partey, Jordan and Addo shortlisted for CAF Best Player Award

Thomas Partey, Jordan Ayew and Elizabeth Addo have been shortlisted for the 28th edition of the CAF football annual awards which will take place on Tuesday, 7 January 2020, at Citadel Azure, Hurghada, Egypt.

The Atletico Madrid star and Jordan Ayew have been impressive for both club and country this season. Jordan Ayew was Ghana’s marksman at the just 2019 Africa Cup of Nations where he banged in two goals and won man of the match awards.

Partey on the other hand has been of the key players for Atletico Madrid this season and was instrumental for Ghana in the recent 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome where he scored.

Black Queens Captain, Elizabeth Addo made it into the CAF Best XI team in the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations hosted in Ghana.

Two time winner Mohammed Salah, Sadio Mane, Naby Keita and Riyad Mahrez have all been shortlisted for the award.


The CAF awards celebrate African footballers and officials who have distinguished themselves during 2019.

The list of nominees is compiled by a panel of media and technical professionals.

It features several award categories for men’s and women’s football including: African Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Youth Player of the Year, National Team of the Year, Goal of the Year, Africa Finest XI, Federation of the Year and several new award categories which will recognise exceptional contributions to African football and inspiring individuals.

The Interclubs Player of the Year Award has been reintroduced and will be dedicated to honouring key actors in CAF’s club competitions
