Senior law lecturer and member of the Commission of Enquiry that probed Ghana’s participation in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil Moses Foh Amoaning,  has said in an interview that, threatening of terror attacks days after the death of former Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in the country’s court during trial has brought division into the Pharaohs of Egypt national team.

According to him, the ousted and jailed leader who collapsed in court and died the previous day belongs to the Moslem Brotherhood, and the national team also has players that belong to the Moslem Brotherhood, so there is a bit of bitterness in some of the players which are likely to create division or factions in the Pharaohs camp.

Speaking to Ohene Brenya Bampoe in an interview on Happy FM’s ‘Anopa Bosuo Sports’ Lawyer Foh-Amoaning said, “Egyptian national team has Moslem brotherhood members as part of the team, most of the players are Moslem brotherhood members, if you could remember somewhere around 2010, 2011 even though they won the AFCON in 2013, they did not qualify for the world cup this is because the National team at then was divided.”

Foh-Amoaning revealed that because of the way and manner the late  Morsi died he [Foh-Amoaning] can affirm that the Egyptian national team is divided into two factions  “I can assure you that the Egyptian national team is divided into two but we should only pray that it will not fill them  to create problems during the tournament.”

He added that “Because of what has happened in Egypt, they can not win the cup so these open ways for the Black Stars for them to take their shine, this is our time to shine, go black stars go Ghana.”

However, Black Stars captain Andre Ayew said in an interview that the team will be heading to the nations cup without the label “favourites” for the first time in a while.
The four times Africa champions have always been labelled favourites following their recent performances at the Nations Cup.
