The Office of Government Communications has dismissed claims made by Old Tafo MP, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, regarding President John Dramani Mahama’s travel abroad on a luxury private jet.
Assafuah alleged in a social media post that a jet with registration number M-BAEP departed Accra on Sunday, August 17, for a multi-leg trip to Japan, Singapore, Germany, and back to Accra, at an estimated cost of $690,000.
In response, Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, described the allegations as “a shambolic effort at propaganda which has badly backfired.”
He clarified that President Mahama traveled to Japan on a commercial Emirates flight and not a private jet.
“President Mahama has not travelled by private jet. Indeed, he travelled to Japan via Emirates, and it is something you can check. It is not a secret,” Kwakye Ofosu said.
He further accused the MP of spreading misinformation for political gain, insisting that the President’s travel arrangements remain transparent.
