President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured the international community that Ghana’s upcoming general elections will be conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner. Speaking at the UN General Assembly in New York, he emphasized Ghana’s commitment to democratic principles and the rule of law, highlighting measures to ensure the electoral process’s integrity.

He expressed confidence in the Electoral Commission (EC), supported by Ghana’s security services, to safeguard the will of the Ghanaian people. Ghanaians have consistently demonstrated their strong attachment to democracy over the last three decades, and President Akufo-Addo is confident that they will not permit this to be undermined.

The Electoral Commission has pledged to deliver free, fair, transparent, and credible elections. With the support of Ghana’s security services, the stage is set for a successful electoral process.

President Akufo-Addo stated, “As my presidency draws to a close, I want to assure this assembly that the upcoming 2024 elections in Ghana will be free, fair and transparent.”
