President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has congratulated President-elect John Dramani Mahama on his decisive victory in Ghana’s 2024 presidential election.

In an official statement released by the Communications Directorate of the Jubilee House, President Akufo-Addo pledged his commitment to a smooth and peaceful transfer of power on January 7, 2025. He also commended the Electoral Commission, led by Chairperson Jean Mensa, for overseeing a credible and peaceful election process.

The President acknowledged the contributions of all stakeholders and praised the Ghanaian people for their active participation in the democratic process, which he described as a testament to the strength of Ghana’s democracy.

Calling for national unity, President Akufo-Addo urged Ghanaians to come together to consolidate the country’s democratic gains and uphold the rule of law. To kickstart the transition, he has invited the President-elect to the Jubilee House on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, for preliminary discussions.

This peaceful and collaborative transition highlights Ghana’s reputation as a leading example of democracy in Africa. President Akufo-Addo reaffirmed his dedication to governance principles that foster national cohesion and stability.

The Electoral Commission’s announcement of Mahama’s victory cements his return to leadership, and Ghanaians now look ahead to the priorities of the incoming administration.
