Prof. Alidu Mahama Seidu wins Tamale Central NDC Primaries

Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Prof. Alidu Mahama Seidu, has emerged victorious in the Tamale Central parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He secured 840 votes out of 1511 ballot cast, in a tightly contested race held at the Alhaji Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.

The primaries was organized to select a successor following the tragic death of MP Alhaji Murtala Muhammed in a helicopter crash.

Twelve aspirants, including three women, competed for the slot.

The full results are as follows:

Prof. Alidu Seidu Mahama – 840
Abdul Hanan Gundadoo – 536
Dr. Seidu Fiter Mohammed – 44
Ing. Aliu Abdul Hamid – 23
Alhassan Mbalba – 10
Dr. Abdul Rahaman Rashid – 9
Sadat Haruna – 9
Alhassan Osman Gomda (Naa Simani) – 7
Shamima Yakubu – 5
Mariama Naana Salifu – 5
Prof. Abdul Razak Abubakari – 4
Muleika Salisu – 3

In all, 1,511 delegates voted out of a total of 1,551 registered, with one ballot rejected.
