The purpose of this donation exercise was to add to knowledge, improve research and professionalism on the issue of Supply Chain Management in Ghana and Africa. At the event, 50 copies of his book “Executive Insight Series: Insights into Strategic Sourcing- the Inextricable link to Africa’s long-term Industralisation, Supply Chain Governance and Economic Development” was received by GIMPA whiles CISCM received copies of the “Executive Insight Series: Compendium of Supply Chain Management Terms”.

Speaking at the event, the CISCM president, Mr. Ocran, stated “CISCM is a big brother for professions under Supply Chain Management in Ghana. And that Supply Chain Management is critical for the achievement of every corporate objective since it does not only enable us cut cost but also improve efficiency. Therefore, the books to be received with today’s function will be a very good source of academic instruction to enable us impact proper knowledge to our students who will be the ambassadors of the new message of Supply Chain Management.

Speaking on behalf of the Rector and Management of GIMPA, the librarian Mr. Adolf Agbeh, also expressed his excitement for the donation and emphasised its usage when he said “As a library, part of our role is information dissemination and I will like to assure Prof. Boateng and Mr. Ockran that the knowledge brought here through the information you are providing is going to be made available to be disseminated to those who need it to make use of it”.

Professor Douglas Boateng expressed his gratitude for the attendance of the event and requested through CISCM that, “students joining GIMPA could be registered as members or affiliates of the CISCM and gradually move to full membership over a period for professionalisation since there’s a need for them to be part of a professional body of Supply Chain Managers and have professional certification too”.
