The running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof.Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang on Saturday night left for Harare, Zimbabwe, to officially disengage from her role as Chancellor of the Women’s University in Africa.

Her decision to disengage after seven years of dedicated service will enable her to fully dedicate herself to the John Mahama 2024 Presidential campaign.

A statement signed and released by her spokesperson, James Agyenim-Boateng on August 25, 2024 noted that throughout her tenure, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang played a pivotal role in restructuring the university, working closely with the institution’s management, board of trustees, and council. Her efforts have significantly enhanced the university’s functionality and financial independence.

Under her leadership, the university sharpened its focus on empowering women who missed the opportunity to pursue higher education in their youth, as well as young women who were unable to complete high school.

She championed the creation of flexible learning options and hands-on programs to ensure that the university’s offerings were both practical and accessible, bridging the gap between theory and practice.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang will preside over her final graduation ceremony on 30th August 2024, before returning to Accra the following day.
