Kweku Wina has been crowned the rap ‘god’ of Ghana music.

The Ashanti Regional rep Kweku Wina aside from bragging rights as the winner of Rapture II, he walks away with a whopping Ghc 10, 000 cash and other consolation prizes from sponsors.

The contest which saw intense participation and competition from contestants was also a showcase of the rich-talented Ghanaian rap talents.

The contest which started with an introductory round saw contestants giving out their best freestyle verse to impress judges and fan alike. They also used the opportunity to leave an imprint on viewers and audience who were yet to decide on who to support.

At this stage, fans and contestants alike were on fire as they called for more thrilling performances. In the next stage, Yaw King reigned supreme but could not sustain his lead in the subsequent round.

After Yaw King and MG1 were eliminated during the “Lyrical Battle” round the remaining contestants headed to the finals to prove who was quick on their feet and had an enriched vocabulary.

At the end of the final round, Kweku Wina managed to pull a surprise to emerge winner with 540 points, earning the admiration of both judges and competitors, not forgetting the applause of contestants.

Elated by his win, Kwaku Wina expressed profound appreciation to YFM and its partners for organizing the Rapture rap reality show. He disclosed he was highly impressed by the maiden edition and decide to try out for the second edition not only to make a name for himself but to also develop his craft, and showcase his talent to the world.

Speaking on the sidelines of Rapture II, he shared, “I’m very grateful to YFM for introducing the Rapture into the musical space for emerging artistes like myself. I want to thank everyone who supported my journey this far and to myself for having the confidence and never giving in this time around.”

Head of YFM Triangle Osei Kuffour, impressed with performances of the finalists congratulated them for making it to the finals and displaying fierce battle with bars and sounds.

“This year’s Rapture has been very memorable since the beginning and I’m very impressed with the contestants throughout the various stages. Today validated our believe that there’s enormous crop of musical talents in the country and I’m proud of the finalists. Today gave be chills. Congratulations to you all and get ready to take over the entertainment space.”

The term ‘Rapture’ which was beautifully coined from source words Rap + Culture and Future will not only unearth talent and revive the rap culture but it will also reward rappers who prove themselves ‘top dogs’, and capable of carrying the banner of the rap culture through the sands of time.

Judges for the night were Eddy Blay, Programmes Manager of YFM, Reggie Rockstone the Grandpapa of hiplife and rap in Ghana, and Nana Kwame Osei Sarpong (Nockus) radio host, and founding father of the yfm brand. The MCs for the night were Kula and AJ Mensah.
