The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has settled on the Dome at the International Conference Centre as the venue for Parliamentary proceedings on September 3.
A letter signed by the Speaker Bagbin, reads: “In view of the notice of summons on August 7, 2024, and pursuant to Article 112 of the Constitution, I appoint the Dome of the International Conference Centre as the meeting place.”
The change in venue is due to ongoing renovation works at the main chamber for the 9th Parliament, which will not be completed in time for the recall.
The summon of members was followed by a request by the Majority caucus to address critical national business following a sudden sine die recess by Speaker Bagbin.
