The committee investigating the August 17 altercation at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge) has found no medical evidence supporting nurse Rejoice Tsotso Bortei’s claims of serious injury.
Presenting the report to Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh on Wednesday, August 27, committee chair Dr. Lawrence Ofori stated;
“There was no evidence of fracture of her left wrist or dislocation of her right shoulder joint as documented by medical records.”
Despite the findings, Bortei has filed a GHS 7 million lawsuit against activist Ralph Saint Williams, GHS 5 million for alleged battery and GHS 2 million for defamation.
She accused Williams of assaulting her during the emergency ward chaos and publicly branding her a “liar.”
Meanwhile, Williams denied the allegations.
In a related development, the Health Minister is expected to announce next steps following the committee’s report.
