The Minister for Roads and Highways and Member of Parliament for the Adaklu Constituency, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has commended media practitioners in the Volta Region for their continuous support of government initiatives, particularly in highlighting road infrastructure projects and educating the public on government policies.
According to the Minister, the media has been instrumental in bringing government programmes and projects to the attention of citizens, thereby enhancing transparency, accountability, and public awareness. He noted that such coverage helps the public to better appreciate the objectives and progress of ongoing development efforts, especially within the road sector.
Mr. Agbodza further encouraged media practitioners to intensify their oversight role, particularly in monitoring contractors engaged in government road projects.
He stressed that sustained media scrutiny would compel contractors to remain accountable and ensure that public funds invested in road infrastructure are used judiciously for the benefit of the citizenry.
He therefore urged the media to maintain its watchdog responsibility by questioning contractors who abandon project sites or delay work, noting that such vigilance would promote accountability and contribute to the successful delivery of quality road projects.
