Sammy Awuku reveals the late Sir John's offer to Mahama

The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, Sammy Awuku, has said that the NPP is willing to give Mahama whatever he left at the jubilee house; a reason they believe is making the former president contest for another presidential term.

Sammy Awuku while addressing the press at Alisa Hotel on 13th August 2020, recalled that this same offer was given by the late Sir John, who was the former General Secretary of the party and served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission before his demise.

Speaking at the event, Sammy Awuku stated: “My mentor and friend the late sir of Ghanaian politics, Sir John asked memorably the other day, “what is it that John Dramani Mahama left at jubilee house that he wants to go back for? Whatever it is, let him say it so that I can fetch it for him” Sadly, Sir John may be no more but the NPP still has that offer open”.

The NPP is of the view that the former president is only running for a second term because he might have left some possessions at the jubilee house and not because he made an impact during his time as president.
“John Mahama has lost touch with his own track record and the reality of the people whose votes he seeks. He was given a big chance by the Ghanaian people and he blew it”, the national organizer stated.

The late NPP stalwart, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly known as Sir John stated that he could not comprehend why ex-President Mahama was worrying himself to return to the Presidency, Jubilee House.

According to him, the ex-President had nothing more to offer Ghanaians as he [Sir John] rated the ex-president’s performance in power as abysmal.

Sir John was recorded to have said, “I say if John Mahama left any of his belongings at the Jubilee House after he was defeated in the 2016 election, he should tell me so I go and pick it up for him. He has no business going back to the Jubilee House. I don’t know why he’s worrying himself spending his resources and energy wanting to return to the Presidency. Ghanaians rejected him resoundingly and that remains”.
