Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Former Communication Director for Dr. Bawumia campaign team in the 2024 election has noted the historical significance of the protest.
Miracles Aboagye in a statement posted on his Facebook page today, May 3, 2025 drew parallels between the infamous 1982 murders of three judges incident carried out by the PNDC government and today’s political climate arguing that judicial intimidation remains a pressing concern.
“The biggest attack against our Judiciary in this country’s history happened in 1982 under the PNDC, most of the operators then in that government are still alive today operating under this confused NDC government”.
He said, “one early morning in 1982, under the PNDC government, a bloody attack was launched on our Judiciary and 3 judges were kidnapped and murdered including a nursing mother, Justice Cecilia koranteng who wasn’t spared in that gruesome act.”
43 years later, a vicious attack albeit bloodless has been launched against our judiciary again, a female chief justice is at the receiving end, he added.
He accused the NDC of having some special hatred towards the judiciary.
With two days left to the demonstration dubbed “Save the Judiciary Demo “, Miracles Aboagye said they would walk on Monday to remind the NDC government that any attempts of aggression on democracy and governance would not be forgotten like it was forgotten 43 years ago.
” We would walk on Monday to place it on record that, when the Judiciary was under attack through a premeditated plan which is on public record, we spoke up”.
He also argued that the chances of the NDC and President Mahama rescinding their decision is very low, but the essence is to remind them today, record for future evidence.
