The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the commencement of the school placement process for Junior High School (JHS) leavers who recently completed their Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE).

The selection process will run from today, Wednesday, 28 August 2024 to Wednesday, 4 September 2024.

In a statement from Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, the Acting Director of the Schools and Instruction Division at GES, parents and guardians are encouraged to take an active role in the school selection process to ensure a smooth placement this year.

The statement also mentions that candidates will have the chance to confirm their school choices by sending a text to a short code before the final placements are made. Further details about the short code will be shared soon.

This announcement comes after the completion of the 2024 BECE, which saw 570,461 candidates participate nationwide from July 8 to 15.

The school selection process enables candidates to select Senior High Schools or Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions for their placement.

Regional Directors of Education have been directed to notify all relevant stakeholders, including Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Directors of Education and Examination Officers, about the selection process dates to ensure its smooth implementation.

GES has also stated that officers from its headquarters will supervise the selection exercise across the country to ensure compliance with established guidelines and procedures, thereby ensuring a transparent placement process.
