A Northern Regional correspondent for Happy FM, Sey Mubarik has revealed on the ‘Omane Mu Te Sen’ segment of the ‘Happy Morning Show’, that dams in the Sagnarigu Kukuo have dried up worsening water scarcity and impacting negatively on livelihood activities of the community.

Government through Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, started the construction of small dams across communities in the Northern part of the country under the One Village, One Dam initiative.

This is to help communities have all-year round access to water for crop irrigation especially during the dry season and also for other uses, eventually reducing the impact of climate change on their livelihoods.

However, according to Happy FM reporter Sey Mubarik and some residents of the Sagnarigu Kukuo their dams have dried up.
Ibrahim Abdul-Semed a resident of Sagnarigu Kukuo, called on government to expand their dam because that is the main source of water.
‘’ I am pleading with government to help extend our dam and build a wall around it to protect it from debris. This dam is our main source of water in this community’’ he said.

Another resident Zakaria Imurana bemoaned the state of their community though they are very close to the Sagnarigu Kukuo Municipal Assembly.

‘’ Sagnarigu Kukuo is close to the Municipal Assembly but we have been neglected for far too long. Almost 70% of us rely on water in this dam for sustenance, please help us’’ Zakaria pleaded.

Happy Morning Show is an interactive and exciting breakfast radio show boasting of innovative segments including ‘Omane Ne Mu Te Sen’, ‘Pae Mu Ka’, Trending issues on Social Media, Sports titbits and many others.

Join the trio, Samuel Eshun, Fati Shaibu-Ali and Raymond Nyamador every weekday (Monday to Friday) 5:30am to 9:00am.
